Play Games To Avoid the Awkward Thanksgiving Get-Together

  • October 7, 2010 1:45 pm

Thanksgiving gives us a chance to get together with our extended families and celebrate all we’re thankful for.
Many times, though, the family dynamic changes due to a marriage throughout the last year – or someone inviting a friend to the feast that other family members may not know, or even a sibling squabble that hasn’t smoothed over yet.

To keep the Thanksgiving festivities from getting awkward and having strange silences, playing games at your Thanksgiving get-together is a great idea while the turkey finishes cooking.

If you know in advance who will be in attendance to your Thanksgiving dinner, Thanksgiving Family Bingo is a great game to play as an ice breaker. Since the game can be customized with up to 40 names, it’s perfect to make sure no one feels left out of the group. If you’re not sure who all will be in attendance, you can also print out blank bingo cards and have your guests fill in the names of all of those in attendance before playing the game.

Lefty’s Undone Chore is another great game selection to get your guests involved. This gift-passing game will have everyone scrambling as they listen for you to say right or left while you read about Little Lefty Wright’s chores left undone. The guests’ who end with the gifts get to keep them. This makes for 100% participation as all the guests are going to involve in the game and enjoy the 100% fun! Supprise your guests this Thanksgiving with this fun Lefty’s Undone Chore game!

If you want to get your guests thinking about the origins of the Thanksgiving holiday, This and That Thanksgiving is a perfect choice to honor the holiday. You can even play this game in groups, pairing the older generations of the family with the younger to make sure everyone can be involved in the fun.

Whatever games you choose to play on Thanksgiving, be sure to not leave anyone out and make sure the winners are first in line for dessert. Then, go ahead and have a great time!

Celebrating Halloween in the Classroom for Grade 2 – Grade 4

  1. Creepy Boxes. Carve holes in the sides of a large box, big enough for little hands. The lid goes back on when you’re done so kids can’t see what they’re about to touch. Then arrange to have something gross for them to touch when they reach in, like wet spagetti noodles for intestines, egg yolks for eyeballs, etc.
  2. Candy and more candy.
  3. Charades & Pictionary Game
